Amoxicillin and Snow

The theme for the fall has been sickness, and unfortunately that theme is carrying on. I came down with a bad sore throat, cough, cold, etc. It then turned into a sinus infection that was so painful in my face and especially made my teeth hurt so bad. I've had one sinus infection before and I remember how painful it was, so I knew immediately that I needed to get some antibiotics if I didn't want to keep suffering. You don't have to go to a doctor to get a prescription for anitibiotics in China. Instead I just read some information online to diagnose myself then sent Adam down to the pharmacy in front of our apartment building to buy some amoxicillin. After about 24 hours of having it in my system the pain started to subside and I'm slowly recovering. I feel horrible though because now both Sophia and Elise have colds. Adam has been amazing, as usual, taking care of us and giving extra help especially in preparing meals. He's so great to me!!!

We were all excited to wake up to snow today!! It's actually been snowing all day, although it's only sticking a little because it's a wet snow. It's really put us in a warm Christmas spirit though. All my students are very excited too. It's been a great intro into my lesson this week which is about Christmas!

I'm using one of Sophia's Christmas books to tell the Christmas story. It's special being able to share the story, but we always pray for protection over our own hearts that we won't get discouraged by the sometimes negative or indifferent reactions by students. They're not trying to be mean, but they just don't understand how important, amazing, and full of meaning the Christmas story truly is. However, it's not their fault. They've been raised since birth and taught in school that God is not real. So I just do my best with God's help to convey his Love and peace and plant some seeds in their hearts. I finish out the lesson by singing "Jingle Bells" and "Silent Night" with them!
