One week ago I was finally able to take my friend "Shelly" to the legal Fellowship here in Wuhan. That weekend our student from last year, Lollipop, was also visiting us so he came too. There is a whole back story with him, but I won't go into that here. One great thing is that he has been reading one chapter a day in the Book!
It was a rainy morning so that meant the buses would be extra full because people wouldn't walk. On top of that it was a holiday weekend, so needless to say, the bus was extremely packed and stuffy. On the ride Lollipop kept saying he was afraid the service would be very serious. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect myself, but I kept telling him it would be okay. After 1 1/2 hours we arrived! Whew. Wuhan is a huge city. We navigated through a few small alleys then came upon the Fellowship building. They were both surprised at it's big size. There are several services that take place there. First is the all Chinese language service, but all are welcome. Next is the service done in English and again, all are welcome. Third is the service that only people with foreign passports are allowed to attend. We decided to go to the English service since they both speak English very well and that way I could understand too.
When we first walked in there were three friendly people who greeted us. I knew in that moment that Lollipop would feel it was a welcoming place, and not too serious. : ) Sure enough, I could feel the joyful Sprt of the Lrd strongly in the room and during the service. There were people from countries all over the world and there were three leaders up front - Chinese, African, and American! It was an ESL service (English as a Second Language) which was great, so my friends could understand, yet, I too was able to wrship. All the words were on the screen and they sang songs that weren't too fast or have too complicated of words. My friends really enjoyed singing. His Sprt was obvious; there was a great sense of joy and peace, and I knew my friends could feel it. I won't go into detail about everything that happened in the service, but overall, it was great!
The service didn't start until 11:30, so afterward we were very hungry, and I took them to eat. At lunch they wanted to learn about c'mm'n''n and b'pt'sm, two things that were talked about during the service that they did not understand. Also, after the service, Shelly bought a Book. I explained to her some basic things about the Book and suggested she begin reading in John. The good news is that Shelly and our other friend Ron, who's a brother, were both at Sophia's party. Ron shared a lot with Shelly and he's going to take her to his h''s' fellowship.
