April Outdoor Activities

This month we've had beautiful spring weather and spent time with friends - American and Chinese alike.  One day we visited the famous Wuhan University (like the Duke of the USA).  They have some very old and famous Japanese Cherry trees that blossom every spring and attract thousands of visitors.  We've heard about the "famous" trees for years now so we finally decided to check it out.  We went with our friends and team members Trevor and Inga Kingsley.  The trees were beautiful, but really nothing compared to the gorgeous blossoms I grew up around in Wenatchee with all the apple, pear, and cherry orchards.

 So many people!!!

This past weekend, our friend Huang Zhao drove us to Huangshi for a day outing.  He was our student from '04-'06.  First we went to the Yangtze riverbank and flew kites and had a picnic of Chinese bbq.

Huang Zhao introduced us to his new girlfriend, Li Ping Ping

Making a mat to sit on from grass and newspapers

We were joined by Huang Zhao's sister and friends as well.  You can see the small grill down by our feet.  We ate chicken and lamb skewers, chicken wings, corn and cucumber.

Flying a kite.  Isn't the bridge cool?

After the picnic we went to visit his father's fish hatchery.
Last we went to his house for a delicious dinner.  It was a really fun day!

These are the children I tutor two times a week.  They wanted English names, so L-R they are Tyler, Sherry, and Shawn.  I tried to pick names that sounded similar to their Chinese names
